Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders.

RF technology is used in many different applications, such as:

• electronic toll collection (ETC )
• railway car identification and tracking
• intermodal container identification
• asset identification and tracking
• item management for retail, health care, and logistics applications
• access control
• animal identification
• fuel dispensing loyalty programs
• automobile immobilizing (security)
